Chesley Sullenberger has been inducted into the US National Aviation Hall of Fame, The Guardian reports. The pilot is widely known for landing a disabled passenger aircraft on New York’s Hudson River in 2009, saving everyone aboard.

Sullenberger joined the ceremony remotely and reflected on a career extending beyond that emergency landing. The honour came after he publicly disclosed an Alzheimer’s diagnosis, which he has discussed as another opportunity to support families facing difficult circumstances.
