Visits to three Dhaka education institutions highlighted how extreme heat, heavy rain and waterlogging can interrupt access to lessons, UNESCO reported in August.

The visits took place in May under the Climate-Smart Education Systems Initiative. Teachers described difficulties reaching classrooms, uncomfortable learning conditions and wider infrastructure concerns.

The observations will inform Bangladesh’s climate risk analysis for education. UNESCO stresses that these three institutions provide local context, rather than a basis for generalising about every school in the country.
